To start off

Vitamins are good for you!

Vitamins are vital to life. Deficiencies can produce dramatic problems but the addition of a specific vitamin can only cure the specific disease for which a deficiency has occurred.

Vitamins are divided into two classes based on their solubility. The the fat-soluble vitamins include vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin A, and vitamin K. The water-soluble vitamins are folate (folic acid), vitamin B12, biotin, vitamin B6, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, and vitamin C (ascorbic acid).

Vitamins are necessary in small amounts for normal metabolism and good health. Vitamins and minerals have no calories and are not an energy source, but assist in metabolizing nutrients in food and are invaluable in keeping your body running smoothly. Vitamins make it possible for other nutrients to be digested, absorbed and metabolized by the body.

There is a list of vitamins you need, should take, and their effects.

No specific brand is better than another, so you may probably find anything appropriate at your local store.

The colon cleansing product you have seen, btw, is just another form of detoxification (detox). The one you have seen is not the only of its kind because there are hundreds more out there.

Detoxification (or colon cleansing as you may) is done to purify the body and cleanse it of any toxic substances that may have been there. It promotes a new beginning of a healthier lifestyle. You can look it up, here is a reference to it:

Good Luck!

Vitamins are the world's biggest rip off. As long as you're eating a good variety of food you are getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need!!

If you have a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, and lean meats, you should be getting all your vitamins anyway.

Don't take too many vitamins either, that'll do more harm than good.

Wow. That's a lot of questions. You should visit a large, health food/vitamin store in your area which has educated staff. There you can find periodicals and books on nutrition and supplements. Some vitamins are water soluble - vitamin C is one of them. There are different types of vitamin C. There is vitamin C with rose hips. There is buffered C. There is sustained release vitamin C. Do you follow what I'm saying?? That is just part of the choices on one vitamin. Vitamin intake also depends upon your sex, age, activity level, what medicines you are on, your general condition and your overall diet. They are meant to supplement what we eat, as most people do not eat all their fruits, veggies, calcium products, etc. Women especially need to get enough iron & calcium. If you have any doubt about what is hype from the media and what you nutritionally need, ask your physician.
