I dropped liquid vitamins on my carpet. Does anyone know how to remove the spot/smell?

Bunny L asked:

While giving my son a dose of liquid infant vitamins I dropped the bottle on the floor. If you have never used this type of supplement, let me tell you…They have a hue similar to iodine and smell very strongly of iron (also an igredient). I have been able to get the majority of the stain out of our rose colored carpet, but, my son's room smells very bad now. The entire room is permeated with the smell of iron. I don't know how to remove the smell. The vitamins are regular over the counter enfamil liquid vitamins with iron.

Blot with Alcohol until totally removed. Blot with a solution of 1/4 of a cup of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel. Apply a one-half inch layer of WHITE (no printing) paper towels to the affected area and weight down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day.

After you remove the stain, the smell should start to go away also. Keep the room well ventilated, and use baking soda on the area to absorb any left over residue from the vitamins. I used to use this with my son, so I know exactly what you mean!
If this doesn't work, you may have to call in a professional. Good luck!

Rx for Juice Juice & Dye Stain Remover are quite often very successful in removing dyed medications.
If unsuccessful, Call the Bane-Clene locator service at 1-800-428-9512 (U.S. ONLY!) for a professional in your zip code area.

try this
make a paste with baking soda, put it directly on the stain, drip vinegar on the soda and let it bubble. use a extractor, lil green machine works good, and repeat the process until the stain is gone.
the vinegar stinks but does neutralize the smell.
the vinegar soda mixture will pull the stain to the surface so you can clean it.
